Below is a list of rolex clasp codes
to help put a date on your rolex watch bracelet
whether it's a jubilee, oyster or president one they
all use the same system , some gold bracelets didn't
have the date code like the steel or steel and gold
ones before 1976 the clasp
code simply had the last 2 digits of the year e.g
if it was 1965 it just had "65" then it
had which quarter of the year it was made in , in
roman numerals normally but sometimes arabic numerals so if the bracelet was made in september
of 1965 it would have the "65" and also
"III" (3 in roman numerals )indicating
it was made in the third quarter in 1965, some had
normal numbers for the quarters I'm not sure which
ones or which years but its either in roman numerals
or normal numbers the quarters that is.
The below image
shows a rolex clasp from a rolex bracelet made after
1976 , the date code on this particular clasp is
"X5" which the number 5 after the X is
the month it was produced which is the 5th month
, so in this case the X signifies 1999 as production
date using the table below and was made in the 5th
month of the year so the X5 code on this clasp signifies
a production date of May 1999. sometimes you'll
see an "S" before this number which signifies
it's a service item ( so either the clasp or the
bracelet has been changed when the watch has been
serviced at Rolex ). the bracelets aren't neccesarily
the same date as the watch and sometimes can be
a year or two apart even if its been on since it
was new.
