A fabulous and rare solid 18 carat gold Victorian English minute repeater chiming pocket watch in super condition and full working order. The watch really is superb, if you are not familiar with what a minute repeater is this watch chimes out the time to the nearest minute which is operated by using a slide on the edge of the watch , if it was twenty past two, the watch would chime twice for the hours , then a double chime once indicating quarter past then 5 single chimes for the extra minutes, so twenty past two, the watch is quite large and heavy and weighs an impressive 136.5 grams, theres a fancy monogram on one cover and a heraldic crest on the other featuring the latin motto "In Pace Ut Sapiens" which i believe to be a shortened version of the Latin expression "in pace, ut sapiens, aptarit idonea bello" meaning "in peace, like a wise man, he appropriately prepares for war". The watch is fully hallmarked 18 carat gold and hallmarked for London 1881. It has a 3/4 plate gilt frosted movement. A fabulous item.

18 carat gold American Waltham Watch
Company full hunter keyless wind
gents full size pocket watch. The
case hallmarked for Birmingham 1918.
The watch with mint condition white
porcelain enamel dial with subsidiary
seconds dial at 6 'o clock and signed
by the retailer "Northern Goldsmiths
Newcastle". The dial is revealed
when the winding crown is pushed
in and the gold cover then opens.
This watch has an engraved monogram
on the outside of the case as shown
in the picture and also has a presentation
inscription on the cuvette (inner
dust cover) which cannot be seen
unless the back of the case is opened.
